David advises clients on media strategies and corporate communication. In 1986 David joined the Guardian, and was European Business Editor of The Guardian newspaper in Brussels. At The Guardian he was, inter alia, a leader writer, education editor, German correspondent, industrial editor and business news editor. In his latest Brussels role David reported on and analysed significant developments in European and global corporate affairs, including mergers & acquisitions, the financial crisis as well as EU issues such as energy/climate change, competition policy, economic and monetary policy, trade, industrial policy and financial regulation. Prior he was working for The Scotsman and London Weekend TV.
David is armed with extensive contacts in major European boardrooms and EU institutions, and was commended for his coverage of the 1984-85 miners’ strike in the British Press Awards and won the Anglo-German Journalism Prize for his coverage of German reunification. He has appeared regularly on French, German and British television and radio and has contributed to leading European newspapers and magazines as well as chairing conferences and speaking at events organised by EU institutions, think tanks and business/union bodies.
David has a BA (Oxford) in French and German and a MA (London) in French. A native English speaker and fluent in German and French.
